All rooms and suites have televisions and telephones with private lines. High speed, wireless internet is available at no extra charge. A calling card or cell phone are required for long distance calls. Aliento is a smoke free environment! Pena Blanca Suite | San Marcos Suite | Coyote Suite | Morocco Room | Kiva Room The Pena Blanca Suite: $135.00 /night The Pena Blanca Suite is located in a separate building across the courtyard from the main house or hacienda. This is typical of the way the Mexicans built compounds 100 years ago, with different buildings (some sharing a single wall) enclosing a courtyard. This suite is accessed across the enclosed courtyard with the covered portal (porch), fountain with gardens and barbeque area. You enter this room through a heavy, solid wooden door into the dining/sitting room. The entire suite has oak hardwood floors and dhurrie area rugs. To the left of the sitting area is the sleeping area with a comfortable queen bed. At the foot of the bed is a traditional corner kiva fireplace. The furniture in this suite matches the whitewashed wood beams and ceiling and was made by the well-known furniture maker, McMillan, of Santa Fe. There is a television and telephone with a private line. There is a sleeper couch. From the main room to the left is the kitchen, well equipped with a stove, oven and refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee grinder and coffee maker. Along the hallway are two large closets. Off the hall is the full bathroom, the floor a beautiful cobalt blue tile with a tub and separate stall shower.
The San Marcos Suite: $115.00 /night The San Marcos Suite is a smaller three room suite with a large bedroom including a queen bed with a sitting area, a separate bathroom. There is a kitchenette which includes a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee grinder and coffee maker. The entry to the suite is from the courtyard the same as the Pena Blanca Suite. It has a private patio and portal in which the fountain from the courtyard can easily be heard for your quiet, escape times.
The Coyote Suite: $115.00 /night This is the largest of three bedrooms in the hacienda. The Coyote Suite gets its name from the built in cabinetry and shelves. The rough-sawn lumber originates from the same wood used as the traditional "coyote" fencing in New Mexico. The lumber in this room came for the stable that is now the school and gallery. (In the past, this compound was an Arabian horse breeding and training facility.) The Coyote Suite has its private entrance through the same sitting courtyard as the Morocco Room. This suite features high ceilings with traditional vigas and latillas (large wooden beams with peeled saplings tightly spaced over the beams as a ceiling), saltillo tile floors and a large picture window to the south facing front portal and entrance.
The romantic wrought iron canopy queen bed will assure you of a restful sleep! The banco (built in window seat) fills the width of the room under the southeast facing window and is a wonderful place to sit and rest or read. A carved writing desk, a cozy loveseat that makes into a single bed, a television and telephone with a private line completes the Coyote Suite. What makes this suite so inviting is the large room (500 sq.ft.) adjoining the bedroom. The coverings on the east facing window wall may be raised to view the morning sunrise through the private portal, with its own collection of colorful potted geraniums. This room is sparsely furnished with just the necessary comfortable overstuffed chairs, large Turkish rug and a hand hewn stone and wood table with chairs. It is through this room that the bathroom is accessed. The bath is divided, for the guests' privacy, into two areas. The first has a Mexican talavera tile sink and through the door is the lavatory and corner tiled and glass enclosed shower.
This room is not only ideal as a living room, but also as a meeting room for a small conference, like the quilting seminar that was held here recently.
The Morocco Room: $95.00 /night This spacious room has its private entrance through the front portal of the hacienda. You pass through a lovely walled sitting courtyard with pots of colorful geraniums. The Morocco room is accessed through the heavy, turquoise door. A Casablanca style fan extends from the very high ceiling with large vigas providing this room with a gentle breeze. The second story windows provide ample sunlight and a view of the starry night sky.
This room offers a comfortable wrought iron queen bed, a carved wooden chest of drawers, an antique Mexican armoire, a table and chairs for writing or reading. Turkish rugs sprawl on the saltillo tiled floor. Separated from the sleeping area is a plant filled alcove with a clawfoot bathtub for that relaxing soak and through the wooden double doors is the enclosed tiled shower. The arched Moroccan doors with mother of pearl inlay (hence the name of this room!) open into the lavatory and sink area. A television and telephone with a private line complete this wonderfully unique room.
This cozy room gets its name from the traditional kiva fireplace, which faces the sitting area of the room. The carved Indian bust on the mantle is not meant to keep an eye on things - it is just one of the many traditional decorative items found throughout the hacienda! The private entrance into this quiet room is from one of the many portals (covered patios) of the main house and is used solely by the occupants of just this room. The Kiva Room features a comfortable queen sized bed that is tucked into an alcove with windows on either side for gentle diffused lighting through the many large cottonwood and elm trees which surround this property. In the sitting area across from the kiva is a love seat which makes into a single bed, an Indian armoire, a writing desk, television and telephone with a private line. There is a beautiful carved Moroccan side table next to the love seat and a traditional dhurrie rug adds color to the saltillo tile floor.
The old fashioned bathroom takes you to days gone by, with its vigas, saltillo tile floor with Turkish rugs and a clawfoot tub with a shower. Eclectic furnishings in this wonderful bath are the saltillo tile, tin mirror and a carved wooden relief scene from Bali. You will definitely feel as though you are away from it all!
